Hi Memphis.
Real nice pics. The subject matter suits the medium. Or should that be, the medium suits the subject matter?
Being a film shooter I hope that you will excuse my ignorance here, but I assume that there is an on-camera IR setting?
All the best.

There is no IR setting on the camera. The M8 was equipped with a VERY weak IR-cut filter making it exceptionally susceptible to IR contamination. For most M8 shooters this was a bad thing because blacks looked magenta and were low contrast in the black and white setting. Leica issued a fix by giving away free IR-cut filters to screw into the front of the lens.
You can see the difference here:

Those are black Converse Chuck Taylor's and you can see the marked IR contamination in the top photo and the more true black in the bottom.
For some people, like me, the M8 was an awesome camera because you had an IR camera that you could handhold at regular exposure times and since it's not an SLR the viewfinder isn't blocked by the nearly opaque IR filter. I used my M8 exclusively as an IR camera after I got my M9-P. I wish I hadn't of sold it.
Here are a few of my M8 IR shots.
